Ejea de los Caballeros Celebrates Cooperation Week 2025

Ejea de los Caballeros Celebrates the Week of Cooperation with Various Solidarity Activities from September 21 to 27

Ejea de los Caballeros will host the Week of Cooperation from September 21 to 27, 2025, under the slogan «Ejea is Solidarity». The event is organized by the Aragonese Federation of Solidarity in collaboration with the Ejea City Council and the Zaragoza Provincial Council, aiming to raise awareness among the population about the importance of solidarity and development cooperation.

Diverse and Accessible Program for the Public

The program includes a wide variety of activities aimed at all audiences: exhibitions, storytelling, sewing and cosmetics workshops, games, talks, parades, film screenings, and theatrical performances. The activities will take place both in municipal spaces for the residents of Ejea and in local educational centers.

The week will kick off on Sunday, September 21, at 12:15 PM with an inaugural parade through the municipality, featuring local giants alongside the giant women from the NGO Hermanamiento León (Nicaragua) – Zaragoza (Spain).

Support from Local and Regional Authorities

Teresa Ladrero, Vice President of the Zaragoza Provincial Council and Mayor of Ejea, emphasized that «administrations have a duty to defend global justice and the values that are increasingly being lost.» Ladrero announced that the city council will present its second coexistence plan next week.

Nerea Marín, Deputy Delegate for Solidarity and Cooperation of the Zaragoza Provincial Council, highlighted that «talking about cooperation is talking about shared responsibility, understanding that what happens anywhere in the world concerns us all.»

Meanwhile, Laura Agustín, Vice President of the Aragonese Federation of Solidarity, acknowledged the effort of the Ejea City Council, which offers grants for development and international solidarity projects.

Among the scheduled activities is a conference on Gaza by Lorena Gamito Fernández, Director of Humanitarian Action of UNRWA Spain (Thursday 25), the screening of the feature film «El Salto» on migration (Friday 26), and workshops on cosmetics and sewing using materials from countries like Syria, Senegal, and Morocco.

The week will conclude on Saturday 27 with a storytelling session at the La Llana festivities, focusing on values such as care, solidarity, and cooperation.

Diverse organizations are participating in the event: Acción Solidaria Aragonesa (ASA), Arapaz, Familias Unidas, Hermanamiento León (Nicaragua)-Zaragoza (Spain), Huauquipura, Oxfam Intermón, and UNRWA. The event is coordinated by UNAQUI, the space for Education for Development and Global Citizenship of the Aragonese Federation of Solidarity.
