Inflation in Aragón experienced a notable increase in March 2026, reaching an annual 3.5%, according to the National Institute of Statistics. This rise, driven by global and local factors, reflects a trend that is also observed at the national level, where inflation reached 3.4%.
Impact of Oil and Energy on Inflation
The price increase in Aragón was significantly influenced by the rise in costs of fuels and lubricants, as well as heating oil. These increases are due to the rebound in international oil prices, affected by the war in Iran. In March, Brent oil averaged 103.1 dollars per barrel, which is 45.5% higher than in February. At the same time, the price of natural gas TTF reached 52.9 euros per MWh, marking an increase of 63.1% compared to the previous month.
Inflation by Consumption Groups
The sectors of Housing and Transportation led inflation with an annual rate of 5.2% each. Other sectors such as Restaurants and Accommodation Services, Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, and Personal Care also showed high rates, exceeding 4% annually. In contrast, sectors like Insurance and Financial Services, Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, and Health presented more moderate inflation, while Clothing and Footwear and Information and Communication recorded low or negative rates.
Regional Comparison and Economic Outlook
The core inflation in Aragón, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, rose to 3.0% annually, surpassing the eurozone average, which stood at 2.5%. By province, Huesca led with an annual rate of 3.6%, followed by Teruel and Zaragoza with 3.5%. In the monetary sector, the European Central Bank decided to keep interest rates unchanged, although it indicated possible increases at its next meeting.
