Hotel Occupancy in Zaragoza Reaches 65.30% in August 2025

The hotel occupancy in Zaragoza slightly declines in August, but foreign visitors increase their spending

Hotels in Zaragoza recorded a 65.30% occupancy rate in the capital and 79.75% in the province in August 2025, figures that exceeded initial forecasts thanks to last-minute bookings. Although the occupancy in the capital was slightly lower than the previous year (67.81%), there was a notable increase in international visitors with greater spending capacity and a longer average stay.

The businessmen from Horeca Hoteles had estimated an occupancy rate of 45.94% for the Aragonese capital at the beginning of summer, but ultimately reached 65.30%. In the province, the difference was even more pronounced: from an initial forecast of 56.76%, it reached an occupancy rate of 79.75%, surpassing by 10 percentage points the figures from previous years, when the occupancy did not reach 69%.

The provincial occupancy showed the best results, following the usual trend for the month of August due to the holiday period and the area’s tourist attractions.

Growth in average stay and international tourism

The average stay increased both in the capital and the province. In Zaragoza city, it went from an initial forecast of 1.72 days to an effective 2 days (compared to 1.86 days in 2024). In the province, it reached 2.25 days, exceeding the forecast of 1.75 days and the 1.67 days recorded the previous year.

The percentage of foreign visitors grew significantly: in the capital, they accounted for 33.58% compared to 25% in 2024, while in the province, they reached 26.53% compared to 24.67% the previous year. International tourists mainly came from France, Italy, Portugal, United States, and United Kingdom for the capital, and from France, Italy, and Netherlands for the province.

Optimistic forecasts for the month of September

Expectations for September have improved considerably compared to estimates made in June. The forecasted occupancy is 68.93% in Zaragoza capital (up from the initial 57.81%) and 69.75% in the province (compared to the initially estimated 46.18%).

Large cultural, musical, sports, and conference events scheduled for the fall, starting with the Vive Latino festival this weekend, are boosting hotel bookings.

Vive Latino Festival and its stable figures

The expected occupancy for the weekend of Vive Latino is 76.33%, a figure that is similar but slightly lower than in previous years (77.85% in 2024 and 77.12% in 2023). The average stay will increase to 1.73 days compared to 1.62 days in 2024.

The profile of visitors continues to be predominantly national (86.95% compared to 13.05% international), with main origins from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Navarra for national visitors, and France and Portugal for international visitors.

Industry leaders view the hosting of major events in the city and the region positively, considering the hotel sector a fundamental pillar of tourism and one of the main economic engines of Aragón.
