Ana Blanch Takes Over Leadership of Sodiar with New Initiatives for 2025

Ana Blanch has been appointed the new managing director of Sodiar, succeeding Pedro Barreiro, with duties commencing on July 31, 2025. This Thursday, she held a working meeting with the vice president of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, at the entity’s facilities.

Ana Blanch expressed her dual commitment: «to bring my experience in strategic leadership to serve the general interest and to bolster the role of this public society as a driver of economic, social, and territorial transformation in Aragon.» The new managing director is aligned with the Strategic Plan 2024-2027, which aims to increase financial activity, diversify funding allocations, strengthen the territorial image of Sodiar, and consolidate a more digital and agile organizational model.

Activity Results for 2025

As of July 28, 23 investment operations have been formalized, amounting to 2.1 million euros, representing 70% of the target set for the entire year of 2025. These actions have mobilized total investments of 5.56 million euros and impacted employment for 578 people.

The majority of these operations focused on strategic categories: freelancers and micro-enterprises linked to the circular economy (5 operations), entrepreneurs and SMEs (4), innovation (3), and the cultural industry (3). Additionally, there are 7 more operations pending formalization valued at 530,000 euros, which will result in a total investment of nearly 2 million euros and an estimated impact on employment of 177 people.

Mar Vaquero emphasized that «Aragon needs strong, brave companies with the ambition to grow» and conveyed a message of support: «now more than ever, they must know that they are not alone. They have the Government to support their projects, accompany their aspirations, and help turn their ideas into real opportunities for success.» The vice president described Sodiar as «a tool at the service of Aragon» that represents a strategic alliance between the public and private sectors.

Sodiar has launched two extraordinary measures in 2025. The first is the Companies Recover and Reactivate II line, designed to address the liquidity and investment needs of Aragonese companies affected by the torrential rains. The second is the Financing Line for the Tariff Crisis, specifically aimed at Aragonese SMEs harmed by tariffs imposed by the United States, especially in export sectors such as agri-food.

Ana Blanch is an executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in strategic leadership, business planning, and organizational management in the financial, industrial, and social economy sectors. She has held positions such as general director of family businesses, business director in banking and insurance, and regional director in banking entities.

She holds a law degree from the University of Zaragoza, has a Master’s in Business Management and Administration, and is a doctoral candidate in Public and Social Policy Sociology. She has been a professor in the Departments of Economic Structure and Business Organization at the University of Zaragoza for fifteen years and is currently a member of the research team of the Social and Economic Studies Group of the third sector GESES-University of Zaragoza.
