Valentine’s Day is approaching and couples start looking for a weekend getaway to celebrate love. Although Aragon is romantic all year round, we have gathered some experiences only suitable for lovers: charming hotels, sustainable accommodations, quality gastronomy, spa plans… May cupid be with you in this Valentine’s Day tour in Aragon!
For those who want to disconnect from the children: ‘adults only’.
For some time now, Aragon has had an offer of adults-only hotels where you can disconnect as a couple or with friends, but away from the children’s offer of many other hotels. If you are at that point where you need to disconnect from the children… take the opportunity to leave them with their grandparents or aunts and uncles and treat yourself in one of these particular hotels that are becoming more and more fashionable in Aragon. One of the best adults only hotels in the region is in Arcusa, a small boutique hotel located just a few kilometers from Aínsa and Alquézar, two of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Tierra Buxo is the hotel of Marta and Romain, both with experience in the luxury hotel business in Paris. The dreamy experience and charm of this hotel comes from the construction itself, in stone, and the area in which it is located. Although in February you will not be able to swim in the pool, the garden is beautiful and it has a restaurant with zero kilometer cuisine.
Other interesting options to discover adults only hotels in Aragon with a romantic getaway are the Hotel Los Leones, in Rubielos de Mora; or the Hotel 1877, in Albarracín; both located in two of the most charming villages of Teruel. The Hotel Los Leones is focused on couples to enjoy a pleasant and quiet stay in another of the most beautiful villages in Spain, but here they do allow children from 10 years old. The hotel is located in a beautiful 17th century manor house, residence of the nobility and clergy for centuries, which has been restored respecting its origin. Read our post about what to eat and where to eat in Rubielos de Mora.
The hotel 1877 Sensaciones de Albarracín is the first hotel with spa in the town and one of the accommodations with the best panoramic views of Albarracín. It has a beautiful restaurant that reinterprets the traditional cuisine giving value to the food producers.
For those seeking luxury and sustainable experiences.
Apart from adults only hotels, there is another great hotel offer in which to enjoy a getaway as a couple. For example, you will surely love to live a unique experience in a unique hotel in Matarraña as the Consolación, a luxury hotel in Monroyo; the Torre del Visco in Fuentespalda, Hotel El Convent 1613 in La Fresneda; or the exclusive luxury hotel (five stars) Torre del Marqués in Monroyo. The latter organizes excursions along the Vía Verde Val de Zafán. These accommodations are a good way to celebrate love and get to know the wonderful surroundings of the Matarraña region, considered the Spanish Tuscany.
From Teruel to Huesca. Another of our bets for your Valentine’s Day getaway is to enjoy the stars from O chardinet d’a Formiga, a perfect experience of Sustainable Tourism near Aínsa. This rural house stands out for offering baths in a wooden tub, which is heated with firewood and offers the opportunity to enjoy a natural jacuzzi. In addition, this accommodation is built with bio-construction criteria.
For the gluttons: eat in one of the best restaurants in Aragon.
If one of the plans that you most like to do as a couple is to eat and enjoy the gastronomy, Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to discover those «whim» restaurants, those that you can not frequent every day. For us, a perfect option is to take the opportunity to make a reservation at one of the seven Michelin-starred restaurants in Aragón, such as Restaurante Callizo, Espacio N de la Venta del Sotón, Lillas Pastia or Tatau in Huesca; Cancook and La Prensa, in Zaragoza; and El Batán in Teruel.
But if your budget is tighter, you can always go to the best restaurants without Michelin Star but with Bib Gourmand distinction in Aragon or to many others where you will also eat wonderfully throughout the territory, both in the province of Zaragoza and in the provinces of Huesca and Teruel.
If you haven’t tried them yet, our bet is Casa Lac (Zaragoza) if you like vegetables and Brasaybirra (Huesca) if you like Japanese fusion and craft beer.
For spa lovers: spa and massage for two.
Do you love soaking in the water? In Aragon there is a generous offer of spas, which combines quality facilities with the possibility of carrying out activities in the surroundings of some of them, since many of them are located in the surroundings of the region.
Near Zaragoza you have several options in Jaraba, with the Balneario de La Virgen, Sicilia or Termas Pallarés (the season starts in March) and Balneario Alhama de Aragón, very close, in Alhama de Aragón. But you also have many other options in Huesca and Teruel. We love the view of the Balneario de Panticosa with the snow-capped peaks and it is a perfect getaway that you can combine with skiing in the Pistas de Formigal-Panticosa. Another of our favorites is the Balneario de Ariño, for being the most modern resort in Aragón with views of the Sierra de Arcos and recognized with several distinctions as a perfect option for Sustainable Tourism.
In the web of Spas of Aragon you can find all the available options. Many of them have offers to celebrate Valentine’s Day, including romantic dinners, massages for couples and a tour of the thermal circuits.
